LinksSys Router with Modem

If you are struggling to connect a Router with a Modem (Fixed or Non Fixed IP) here is something you can try:

1)Connect both Modem and Router one by one to your machine and assign them a different IP address(if modem is 192.168.1.1 then assign Router 192.168.2.1)

2)Leave the modem settings as they are given by your ISP

3)Goto Router admin panel and use Static IP address option,in IP address choose 192.168.1.2 as IP,gateway as 192.168.1.1 and enter subnet mask and nameservers etc...

4)Connect Modem Output Wire to Router Internet port and connect Router Output to your PC

5)In your PC network settings use the IP address as 192.168.2.X and Gateway as 192.168.2.1 and DNS as usual

You will be instantly ready to Go and you are secure as well
